PROPOSED NEW HOME FOR RIVERSIDE UNITED CHURCH CONGREGATION
Designed by G. Buller Colthurst, architect, Bank of Montreal Building, the church will contain seating capacity for 450 people. It will be constructed of brick and tile with stone dressings and a shingle roof. The plans also provide for class rooms in the basement and an assembly hall which will meet both Sunday school requirements and social activities.
Rev. R. A. Brook, 48 St. Louis avenue, Riverside, is pastor of the new congregation. W. F. Purdy is chairman of the building committee, and J. E. Jackson, clerk of the congregation.
Some days ago Dr. Colin G. Young, of Toronto, head of the Home Mission Board of the United Church, gave his formal sanction to the plans while on a visit to the Border.
This classic looking Church still stands, looking nearly the same over 80 years later.
** NOTE there will be no post Monday due to the holiday. Have a good long weekend everyone. See you back here Tuesday.

Stood up in a wedding there two years ago. They're getting a divorce.
there's another church down the block towards Wyandotte over on Esdras
I wonder if the cross in the sketch was ever pot on or if it came down?
i lived in this neighborhood hood for 10 years and never recall seeing the cross VP
i got married there last year, no looming divorce, haha, my wifes grandparents married there in 1948. Its a good looking building outside, but inside, especially in the hallways behind the sanctuary are really starting to deteriorate.
other than a couple ruff spots on the roof the building practicaly looks brand new
Grew up from babyhood in that church from 1945. My second home all those years! mom took care of the kitchen and food and Dad was the funnyman and made up the skits for the Bible Class for 15 years and painted all the signs for all the Spring Fairs and other do's!
love it!
forgot to mention I was flower girl in 1951 for 4 weddings that year between the gals and guys in the Bible Class!
