Stairs and Posts…

A few random things from around town over the last few days…

New stairs are on their way to the Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue on Gilles Boulevard. It’s an amazing building. If you’ve never been inside, it will be part of Doors Open on September 26th, so make sure you add it to you list of places to see.

Regular reader Aaron, had mentioned the other day that the cement posts at Jackson Park had been removed. I took a trip by Jackson Park over the weekend, and found the posts on the ground.

Interestingly enough both are positioned in such a way that the tops of the posts are off the ground. Given how they have them sitting there and propped up, I suspect they are going back in the ground.

In this streetview, you can see where the posts were originally located.

  • Someone was telling me that Google was redoing a lot of the streetviews because they were originally taken during the CUPE strike last year, and the shots made the city look unkempt.

From the looks of your streetview above it definitely looks like it needs a retake. Mow that lawn!

  • Google did a reshoot staring in March but I don't think they have posted it yet(The schoolbus is still in front of my house)
Those aresome great steps in front of Shaar Hashomayim. I have ridden (rode) toboggans down them when there was enough snow.

  • Hey you got the posts! Good to see they'll probably be put back in. I've always liked that
    Synagogue as well.
