Yes! Snap that beautiful view before the bridge is twinned with a larger bridge structure. I suspect that at this rate the Ambassador will not see its 100 year anniversary as it will become redundant and too costly to maintain.
The bridge looks so much better black than the teal green it is now. What were they thinking?
Can you imagine what would happen if you decided to “park a moment” now? You’d probably have the NSA on you in 30 seconds.
I like seeig all of the green grass surrounding the bridge. Now all there is are seas of black asphalt for the UofW or UofP (University of parking).
Haha, University of Parking. Good one. They should change the nickname from City of Roses to the City of Parking Lots…
The nighttime appearance of the bridge could soon change. One morning in December a new lighting system was temporarily turned on. It was an unbroken line of light tracing the pillars and cable instead of the current “necklace” of lamps. Perhaps we will see it again for the anniversary of the bridge’s 1929 construction.
Andrew, you gonna do an article on the Edith Cavel lofts? I saw the notice in today’s Star that it was designated. I googled it and it said the designation was forwarded by A. Foot, but there’s no pictures anywhere of that fascinating description from the council minutes. Do the hallways look as nice as McPhail’s Canada building? I can’t even find it in your archives.

What’s even worse about the teal colour is remembering how many people had to die to paint it that awful colour. What a waste.
I seem to recall that almost every time the Bridge needs a new coat of paint, people end up dead somewhere along the lines while doing it because of the difficult and highly dangerous position one is put in to do it.
Also notice the smoke coming from the power plant and the ship. Both burned a dirty bunker oil then. One hot, humid night in the late 60s something failed and the generating plant belched an oily, black soot that descended on Sandwich. A resident, making an early morning bathroom trip noticed she left black footprints on the tile floor. She turned on the bedroom light and found her silhouette edged in black on the sheet. Many people had left their windows open and dozens of families collected insurance settlements from the Detroit company. Despite current complaints. air quality has improved compared to 40 years ago.
Begs the question, why the heck did they demolish part of Assumption University? And when?
I was in the park along the river a few days ago taking pictures of the bridge and other things and some rent a cop came running up to me and demanded I stop taking pictures and said I need to erase the ones I already took. I refused and he threatened to call the cops if I did not comply. I refused told him to go ahead and call. He pretended to be calling but no cops ever showed up. But he kept on watching me and followed me around.
