This house on Janette proves that it can. Apparently the owner of this place was worried that he was going to be left out of the stucco party, so he decided to “freshen up” this century old house just north of Wyandotte St.
My favourite part of the house is the decorative trim, it matches nicely with the black metal bars. 🙂
If you are out and about, and run across a lousy stucco job, please let me know about it. I’ve had a few photos sent in by other readers, as well as some nominations by other readers. I’ll gather everthing up, and maybe we’ll have a sutcco week sometime soon…

I, myself am not a big fan of stucco. But I'd wager a bet that this place is in better shape that 9 out of 10 homes in that area. Perhaps it might not be the most appealing exterior finish, but at least someone is taking some bring in their home.
Yet another house that's fallen victim to the Windsor disease.
don't worry david, i'm sure one swift kick to those bars from the inside and all the stucco will come flying off!! lol i really don't understand where the whole black dude with pitbull = getto gangsta from detroit tryin to make this neighbourhood tougher then it is and couldn't hack it in the D comes into play here though.
i seriously doubt those are his intentions. of course, i have heard of recent gang wars going down over there because gangs are puttin hits out on other gangs flowerbeds and spreading landscaping rocks all over the lawn, sometimes...even leaving gouges in the grass and rearanging the garden gnomes.
There is a store on the south west corner of Wyandotte and Moy that recently underwent a visit from the stucco bandit. It was a supermarket catering to Middle-Eastern customers. There was a minor fire inside. (I certainly didn't think that there was anything suspicious.)
It recently re-opened as something high in demand. An Arabic fast food restaurant with a beautiful stucco job.
VP - by "high demand" do you mean another shwarma place? lol
A warning to all the extreme stucco haters...don't ever visit Phoenix, AZ.
What, no pink plastic flamingoes in the front yard? Why not just do the current trend, and tear the century-house down and build a strip mall where half of the stores will end up vacant, grafitti-covered and vandalized? Talk about urban blight!
There should be a bylaw against using that crap, just like that frickin' fake snow that people spray on their windows at Christmas time! Useless and ugly!
VP it seems that people of middle eastern decent love stucco. The majority of stucco buildings in the middle eastern section of Wyandotte are owned by middle eastern people. I guess they just don't understand our climate and think it looks better than "western society" brick.
Apparently stucco is cheaper than siding. But I'm sure the house looks better now than it did, so don't be too hard on the guy. :)
I am certainly looking forward to stucco week!
I admit that stucco isn't my favourite, but I find most modern-day siding to be ugly too. Since doing brick rehab seems a bit out of the price bracket of Janette, I guess we should be happy that it's not just a pile of arson-burnt rubble. It's pretty sad that we'd settle so low eh.
