Now I’ve seen it all

Just when I think that I’ve seen every possible crime against architecture that stucco can be guilty of, well I stumble across this mess on Tecumseh Rd. and Pillette.

WTF? Who is the assclown that thought that this is an improvement over anything? This is the kind of mess that someone should go to jail over. U G L Y.

Great job too stuccoing the beautiful old brick building on the corner too… Unbelievable what passes for taste in this city sometimes…. If I was mayor, I’d pass a by-law banning the use of E.IF.S. in the city.

o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o

As a side note, the BOM’s fate will be decided tonight at City Council at 6:00 pm. If you haven’t registered as a delegate, it’s likely too late, but please come down anyways and help fill the council chamber. The more people in attendance in support of preservation, the better.

  • geez louise. what's the deal with stucko? sometimes , with the building on the coner for example, it look like they try to recreate a nice classical look of a brick building from the 20's or so...but then instead of actually DOING it they make the shapes in stucko...i don't get it.
the star of this post though is an ugly disaster. if i was mayor, not only would the by law be in place for new buildings, i'd also order all the others to be refurbished to thier original beauty.
what do you think the BMO's likly future will be? maybe with the seagrave fiasco, city council will be more observant this time.
ps - "assclown" love it lol

  • also....was that the majic shop that was there for eons upon eons? and while we're on techumseh, any idea what's behind all the aluminum siding at the old re-runs video at hall?

  • sorry.....look close above the first floor window...it's wrecked already LOL!!!! can't be too old this stuff either. a couple months for stucko, 100 plus years for brick. what's more economical again?

  • You forgot to include a picture of the diagonal line cross patteron on the east side of the Pilette/Tec. building, Andrew. That's right up there too.

  • I think stucco is for the lazy business owner. I believe it is right up there (could be even worse) than the aluminum siding of the 50s-70s.
Personally I find it insulting to the rest of Windsor and to it's heritage. Just wait until water gets behind the facade to see the real treat. In about 10-15 years these will look like hell.

  • Andrew, I'm a little disappointed that you didn't include the pink and blue stucco disaster just to the west, across from the Golden Griddle.
