Back in the early 70's, I stopped into a place on the NE corner of Monmouth & Ontario and had a Burger. I don't remember much about it - small place, counter & stools and a grill. To be honest, I was paying attention to the girl who worked there and nothing else.
The building is still there but the shop has since been turned into an apartment.
I used to go there for lunch every day........I went to Walkerville High.........The burgers and fries were great........The year was 1972
I went there also great hangout before and after school
i went to WCI during the early 60's
great memories good to see things from it again
I went to St. Anne's in the 70'
The corner store was called Betty's and the small shop next door was a hair dressing place
There was an older guy named Mike who served us
It was taken over a few years later possibly mid seventies by new owners
There were stools and an old fashioned counter in the back - possible 5 stools similar to what Woolworth's on Ottawa street had but on a smaller scale. I believe they did serve food there once again when the new owners took over
My buddy and I were in the store possily 1978 when it was robbed. I have a newspaper clipping somewhere and will post it when I get a chance
Great pics and great job. Does anyone have an older picture of the store. What a shame that it has not been kept up.
Does anybody have a picture of St. Anne School back in the day and/or any history on it.
I have some pretty good memories going there in the 70's
