I didn't know that thanks for letting us know!
Great picture again! SOMETIMES I WISH I CAN GO IN THE PAST FOR A FEW DAYS AND SEE WHAT IT WOULD FEEL LIKE. PAY PENNIES TO GO ON THE STREET CARS AND LAUGH AND SAY WOW HOW TIMES SURE CHANGE! BUT WE CAN ONLY IMAGINE AND TALK TO OUR SENIORS IN OUR CITY ABOUT THOSE DAYS... AS I DO ALL THE TIME, AND THEY ALL DO SAY IT WAS A SAFER PLACE TO BE AT THAT POINT OF TIME....NOW TODAY YOU CAN'T TRUST ANYBODY ANYMORE.... BUT I AM GLAD I DO REMEMBER THE OLD KRESGES
DOWNTOWN....DO YOU HAVE ANY PHOTOS OF THAT??? I DO IF U WANT SOME!! LET ME KNOW OK ANDREW!! THANK YOU......PS...MAYBE WE CAN TRADE SOME PHOTOS OF THAT? OK BYE
That ever look different seeing homes beside the post office. I'm kinda upset with myself because I cannot find those newspaper clippings of the building that stood next to MacKenzie Hall. The 4 story building caught fire in the mid 80's and put 35 families without a place to live, the property has been turned into a small park. At the time of the fire there was a sign on the front of the building that read " Chateau Blanc " but from what I hear it was called the " Vendome Hotel " back in the horse buggy days. City hall or the library might even have records of it. If anyone can dig up some info on the building that would be cool.
Lilly, Bedford became Sandwich Street.
Rich, I'm sure one of these days the articles will turn up... If you ever come up with them, let me know, I'd love to see them.
Wow, what a great picture. I live in that neighborhood. What a great find.
