While I hate the bricked in storefront windows at least it appears to be in great shape. Too bad those beautiful trees are gone.

Great picture Andrew! The original 1957 photo that is. I don’ t remember the trees however I do remember the store. When I was little it was a furniture store and than if memory recalls correctly it became somewhat of a junk store.The building still looks decent from the outside except the bricked in store front. I think the windows were boarded up for a while before the put the brick up. I think the brick went up in late 80’s, early 90’s. I imagine the inside is not in as great of shape judging from the type of tenants that were living there during the late 80’s. It became quite the slum place. Lots of problems w/ police violence and drugs were a major factor. Thats probably when the neighbour gradually started deteriorating. How are the tenants now??

Well I live in the building now and the tennant’s are good try too keep it clean and yes it is shame tree was removed but they did keep some of the original stuff there as you can tell by pic’s building hasn’t really changed except for store’s now gone and use as apartment’s.
