Casino Expansion

As the Casino’s across the river in Detroit work at building their permanent facilities, Casino Windsor is well underway with their expansion project.

The expanded Windsor Casino will contain a second hotel tower, and a 5,000 seat auditorium.

The expansion is the tower on the right. This weekend’s Windsor Star also contained this small blurb:

CASINO EYES TOP ACTS

Casino Windsor will soon be bidding to compete for high-profile entertainment acts with Detroit’s Fox Theatre, DTE Energy Music Theatre and Fisher Theatre once its expansion is completed in early 2008.

“Our customers can expect to see world-class entertainment,” said spokeswoman Holly Ward. “There will be entertainers coming never seen in Windsor before.”

The casino has already launched a North America-wide hunt to find a new director of entertainment and special events whose assignment will be to book top-notch talent and Broadway-type shows.

It’s been working in Niagara Falls, so it will be interesting to see how that plays in Windsor.

  • i'm 39 years old, was born here and i'm getting fed up with the loud-mouth, me-first labour mentality that rules this town. i blame it on people my age who worship big-box retail, brand-new crappy looking houses with big ugly garages in the suburbs and tv's with 20 foot screens that get 2000 channels. this is a town where being fat, drunk and dumb gets you a high-paying gig with the caw. hopefully the layoffs in the auto industry will force a lot of those idiots who live in brand-new crappy looking houses to look reality in the face and admit they got it all wrong.
