Congratulations!

Congratulations to Priscilla Lopes-Schliep who yesterday won a Bronze medal for Canada in the Women’s 100 m hurdles. Our first track medal at the Olympics since 1996.

At the Olympic Trials in Windsor this past July, of all the athletes competing, Priscilla Lopes-Schliep was far and away one of the most personable. After crushing her competition and qualifying for Beijing, as she was jogging back to the start line, she took the time to smile and wave and pose for a few quick photographs for me. She was the only athlete I saw who actually took the time to pose for photos.

Far and away, she seemed to be enjoying herself more than any other athlete there. Now I realize that there was incredible pressure on all the athletes there, but her attitude came though loud and clear in her demeanour following that race. Of all the athletes I shot over that weekend, she was the one who stuck in my mind.

So congratulations to Priscilla, on her Bronze medal. Of all the Canadian athletes at the games, there is no one I was happier to see win a medal.
