These cards come to us today from regular reader Vic. These are some great cards, they are new to me as I hadn’t seen either of them before.
This postcard shows the s.e. corner of Ontario & Lawrence Road in what was then Ford.
Built in 1922, this house was designated by the City in 2000.

The second card shows the streetcar on Wyandotte Street (what was then called Ottawa Street) at the intersection with Pilette Road.
Amazingly when compared to the “modern” view, the scene is still recognisable.
Personally I think the corner building looked better before its “renovation”. 😉

great photos of the east end i lived in this neighbourhood in the 50’s on the 800 block of Raymo rd i know the family who owns the house on lawence and ontario that was a great old neibourhood to live in
Thanks for posting these. What an incredible find. I grew up in the area and my mother and grandparents lived on Dawson in the 1930’s. I’ve always wondered what the shops etc. looked like back then. It’s interesting that a postcard was made of the home one Dawson but I guess it’s not unlike the postcards of Victoria, Giles etc from that era.

My wife Nancy and I have had the pleasure of living in that corner home at Lawrence & Ontario for almost 40 years now. When we moved in we felt we belonged in this stone ‘castle’, and being Magical Entertainers, my wife christened our residence “Ye Ould Magic Castle” with a sign that still exists today. Generations of local children know it as the Wizards Castle, and for most all Halloween Eves, Jonathon T. Wizard has greeted the children with their annual ‘Trick & Treat’ at the door.
Roger Des Ramoux who owned a Taylor Shop in the 800 block of Wyandotte Street, always said he had a postcard with our home on it in his office, but he never did prove his statement by finding it and showing us… NOW… we believe his story, thanks to Vic and his postings!
Another surprise came to our area when it was discovered that our home was on a designated heritage property list, and with the help of the City, we were able to proceed and a suitable bronze plaque now resides prominently displayed on our home.

Does anyone have imformation about the M&P chain in Windsor and the county? The store on the Wyandotte card shows the store at the corner of Pillette (south east corner) has a sign
&P no.11. A&P opened in Toronto in 1927, dont know when they came to Windsor.
