I’ve long liked this building on Howard just north of Eugenie. Over the years, it been home to numerous car lots, etc. But I’ve always had a soft spot for it as a good example of Mid-Century architecture.
I recently came across the ad above, showing it was originally home to Merrifield’s Custom Body Shop. Not sure who the architect was on this project. Other than the front doors going from a double to a single, it’s nearly identical to the 1964 picture.
There used to be a Merrifields custom car audio right across the street from that on Howard. I wonder if the two were related?
Same owner for both buildings, Worked for Bob Merrifield for about 6 years. This building was built after fire destroyed the previous body shop location on Eugenie street
Wow, it’s still Merrifields. But it appears to be just a used car dealer, now. I don’t know if they do body work anymore.
