Today’s post is a postcard of the University of Windsor from the early to mid 1960’s.
The caption on the back of the card reads as follows:
Windsor, Ontario, Canada
A portion of the University of Windsor campus includes the steps of the Library,
the Biology Building and, beyond, University Centre (1962)

NICE one! The steps are still there as I’m sure you know — in terrible condition now.
NICE!!! Is this shot taken looking North West?
Southwest.
It was/is always an odd thing – this fine modernist entrance didn’t lead anywhere once they built the addition. So it was like a porch few people used. It was nice. That old side of Leddy was mostly great. So many nooks, so many hours spent.
I think the UofW in that picture looks modern, efficient and place that would attract students.
Compare it to today where the campus looks used and abused surrounded by parkinglots and declining neighbourhoods and housing stock is it a wonder why it gets such low marks from students?
i knew i saw this somewhere before… http://internationalmetropolis.com/?p=465
the entrance is great.. i love mid-century modern design, the current entrance to leddy is almost brutalist in style, its too heavy and intimidating.
Thanks Erik, that happens sometimes… Tough to keep track of what’s been previously posted sometimes, in any case it was nearly 3 years ago, so a good refresher for any new readers…
My cousin lives in Fort Erie and came here for a tour as it was one of her choices for Uni. She thought it was all gross and dirty so she’s going somewhere else. We went in some of the residences this summer…the new ones are awesome but the older ones are gross and creepy.
Funny how much nicer it looks with a planter as a skatestopper versus metal bars as skatestoppers.
