Way to go Spits! You made us all proud boys. Now let’s do it all again next year.
Congrats to the Spits. That was a very good Rockets team they beat to win the cup. And in the true spirit of sports fans everywhere, wait ’till next year. The Spokane Chiefs will rule again. Maybe. I hope…..
Doug – Very true. You westies always produce a good hockey team.
Fantastic!
Wow, I never knew you were there 😉
Congrats to these young guys for giving Windsor it’s first Memorial Cup!
Congrats to Kelowna for going that far in the tournament and beating some big names.
Downtown was very busy last night with a lot of people celebrating. Looking forward to the parade…
Go Spits Next Year for a repeat!
Sure thing ME – but here’s the $25,000 question…. Will the parade be downtown or on the far east side?
Thats a good question, Andrew. When the suburban Detroit Pistons of Auburn Hills won the championship in 2004, the parade was in downtown Detroit. Parade ran from Jefferson Ave and Chene, traveled west on Jefferson to Woodward Ave. and Hart Plaza. (Information stolen from from NBA.com news archives).
How it will be done in Windsor? Who knows. I hope to be there though.
Oh come on. Where were the Pistons supposed to play? Cobo? JLA? The Wings have the sweetheart lease there when they threatened to move to Farmington Hills. Gotta give Mr. D. credit, he built that world class stadium with his own funds. The Palace has been copied many times. I don’t care for the brick pattern on the outside, but it is a nice arena.
Have the Spits parade downtown. Though with the strike and all, maybe they should move it to Tecumseh or Lakeshore.
Just heard on CKLW the parade will start at the foot of Lauzon road ending at the WFCU Centre.
Apparently the parade will end at the WFCU with some ceremonies. Perhaps the city should also consider refurbishing the marina and dredging the Little River for a new canal…. 🙂
Hardly surprising. After all the Spits have almost a whole year of history out on Lauzon 😉
It is starting at the ‘ol Barn, winding its way down McDougall to Riverside Drive and up Lauzon to the new arena. So much forthe impact a parade might have on downtown businesses. At least it could have gone down Goyeau St. or Pelissier St.
ME – It’s not. Those plans were scrapped. It’s going from Abars to the new arena.
LMAO! Go figure on the stupidity of this region. Gee, having it downtown might, just might make some sense. But I am sure the owners knowing the town they live in (Tecumseh) wouldn’t want to upset theri fellow residents. After all, why would anyone want to go into the core of Windsor. Bizzaro world strikes again!

The City of Windsor is honouring the Windsor Spitfires for their Memorial Cup win in a permanent way. Council has decided that the western entrance to the W.F.C.U. Centre will be renamed Memorial Cup Drive. The eastern entrance is already named as Mickey Renaud Way. There will be a parade and celebration tonight. The parade begins at six and leaves from the foot of Lauzon at Riverside Drive. The parade will move up Lauzon and end at the WFCU Center for a rally, which AM 800 will carry live beginning at 7:05pm.
