Merry Christmas – 1963

50 years ago Heinz was wishing everyone a merry Christmas with this full page ad in the Windsor Star. Sadly Heinz had full page news for all the wrong reasons in 2013.

As the holidays fall upon us, I just want to wish all my readers a very Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa or Happy Holidays for whatever it is you celebrate or believe in.

I’m going to take a small break over the holidays, there will be no post Wednesday the 25th, Friday the 27th, Monday the 30th or Wednesday January 1st.

Regular posting will resume on Friday January 3, 2014.

Have a safe and happy holidays and a happy New Year!

Andrew

  • Andrew: your postings and comments by readers are very much appreciated by this old Windsorite way out here in Powell River, British Columbia. Your website is my first read every morning. Thank you for all your work in keeping Windsor's memory alive!

  • I echo the comments of Lanny in Powell River, but THIS old Windsorite is in London, UK.
It is a joy to read this site with every post. It is my link to a happy childhood in South Windsor. Thanks Andrew. A happy and prosperous 2014 to you and all the other readers of International Metropolis.

  • And this old Windsorite too, who is still here somehow, and enjoying the blog for some 14(?) years, counting your "old detroit" days!

It is sombering to see how times have changed for our friends in Leamington - a memory of better days in the past for them.

  • Thank you for sharing our beloved home city with us, Andrew. You do great work!
Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

  • Merry Christmas Andrew, thanks for all your fantastic posts! Happy New Year as well, to you and yours!

  • I too would like to thank Andrew for all his hard work. This former west-ender looks forward to every post. All the best to all of you from Memphis, Tennessee.

    Y'all be safe now!

  • Am I the oldest old-timer Windsorite, age 81 in Virginia, who was pleased to find this blog last year? I keep track of old Windsor, which I haven't visited for 10 years...all the old friends have died. I'm still hoping for a picture of the old Ursuline convent on Ouellette Ave where I went to kindergarten in 1937. It was such fun to see all the old pics of St.Mary's Academy which I attended for 13 years, and Assumption College where I went for 3. Wonderful old times. Keep it up.

  • Many thanks Andrew for putting up this siteI'm a relative newcomer but enjoy this site immencely. To all reading have a "Merry Christmas" & a Happy Holidays, And an ever better 2014.

  • Hi eveytone....I have you beat Merle by a few years, I'll be 88 in Janyary. Now l am living in Gravenhurst I haven't been back to Windsor in 20 yrs. and where we lived on #3 highway is no more. Thank you Andrew for bringing back the good old days and happy memories. Happy New Year to All!
