The picture above, taken about 1913, was taken from “Garden Gateway to Canada”. It shows the corner of Ouellette and Tecumseh, and the site today occupied by the Jackson Park Gates.
While it was part of the Windsor Driving Park, the horse track that one occupied the site, these were the Fairgrounds Buildings/Exhibition Hall that once stood on the site. They were used as barracks to house troops during the first world war, and I believe they lasted into the early 1920s.

So it's the Southeast corner of Tecumseh & Ouellette ? I saw this in the past, somewhere and couldn't get oriented ???
Recall seeing a picture of troops training there for WWI. Is that picture in IM archives? Anyone know when the track was built? Fascinating to think that those Jackson Park gates I walked through so many times as a kid were once fairground buildings. Wonder if the old Colonial House on the southwestern corner had been built yet to get visitors to the fairgrounds?
Lanny, I think the Colonial House dated to the late 1800s. Not sure about the track?
