• In the background of the first photo is the pre-reno/expansion Tecumseh Mall. Of note is the fact that the former Kmart has been patched-over to Zellers - this didn't occur until, I believe, 1998...it's still wearing the basic Kmart facade, so the conversion was likely "fresh" at the time of this photo. Tecumseh Mall was expanded and heavily altered thereafter - 2000 I believe.

• Yes, teal was the rage in that time, even the Pistons got into it! I think it was the San Jose Sharks effect or something. Nice classic Buick for sale in the first photo too.

• I remember when the sign was new and the N&D Store had not yet opened. It was the mid sixties. The store itself was a change from the usual supermarket decor of the time. You could see the butcher shop through a large window behind the meat counter and bare brick covered the inside walls.

• wow, the tecumseh mall lot looks bare without the east side marios there. I dont think the teal sign looks too bad, at least the yorktown sign was restored, and i believe in teal!

• Kmart wasn't sold to Zellers until 1998, so the year of 1995 might be a bit too early. There's also two Gen III minivans, which weren't released until late 1995.

  Childhood classic though! My grandfather used to hang out in the canteen by the entrance during the early 1990s. Last (and only) place I remember that offered paper bags as well.

• If Im not mistaken the very short-lived Vancouver Grizzlies of the NBA had teal prominently featured in their uniforms. Also the Florida Marlins rocked the teal in their first couple of years in existence.

  now that you mention how bare the mall looks without the eastside marios,i remember when i was a kid there use to be a shell gas station on that same spot as the eastside marios.they tore it down and left it vacant for a long while.pretty interesting.

• Andrew, that mall brings back memories. During the mid-60's friends and I would buy our LPs (Beatles, Stones, Beach Boys, etc.)and collect our WKNR Music Guides (Keener Top Hits)in the record department at the K Mart. While there, we would dine out on hot dogs at their food counter. N&D was a subsequent development. I remember other N&D stores at Lauzon and Wyandotte and at George and Wyandotte.

• The store on Wyandotte and Lauzon and Wyandotte and George, where Dominion Store like the one at Tecumseh Mall. It closed and CIBC bank took there spot and other stores.No N&D was ever on Wyandotte St.
