Another oldie from the collection, featuring the Casa Don Motel. The back of this 1940’s card reads:
Nice large rooms, up to date furnishings with tiled showers in
every unit & moderate prices.
Owner operated by Don Kinnee.
AAA & OTCA
The Casa-Don was still there at its location at 2130 Division Road until 1999, when according to the annual report of the Windsor Essex-County Development Commission (pg. 9) the “Casa Don Motel was demolished and rebuilt near Windsor Airport”. According to quick Google, 2130 Division Road is today the Howard Johnson Express. Although googling “Casa Don Motel Windsor” will yield you a few results.
I think it appears that since Howard Johnson’s are franchises, the owner bought the Casa-Don and its business license, and demolished the old motel and built the new HoJo in its place. I’m willing to bet that legally the property is probably still the Casa-Don Motel, but d/b/a Howard Johnson Express. So in all likelihood the Casa-Don still technically exists.
