On March 7th., I featured a post on Boose’s Tourist Camp.
This Post card is the same location, but in the late 1950’s. By this point it was known as the Statler Motel. I’m sure it was no realtion to the US Chain of Statler Hotels, one of which was located in Detroit until its demoliton in 2005. Photos here about 1/2 way down the page.
Notice that there is still a Cities Service Station (Today known as Citgo). The traffic light is the intersection of Eugenie & Dougall.
I remember this place because a friend of mine rented one of the several cottages that were located beyond the motel section. There was a small trailer park beyond those and the whole place backed onto the railway property, Michigan Central I think. The service station in front was a White Rose station, replace by a mini-strip of small shops. The motel and a couple abutting houses to the south were demoed and replaced with the local cable company offices, first Shaw now Cogeco.
